The Enchanted Cottage

An old friend at the door. A generous offer for Aldric's work. Cael is delighted by one and beginning to question the other.

Cael Ashford has built a life he loves in Thornhaven: a busy enchanted workshop, a home with Miriam, and a cat who considers supervision his calling. When Hugh Dyer arrives after years apart, Cael hopes his old traveling companion might stay longer than two nights.

Then a dealer begins offering good money for Aldric's household enchantments. Villagers are tempted. Hugh finds paid work packing the collection. And Cael is pleased to see his uncle's craftsmanship appreciated, until a faulty reading lamp comes through the workshop door with a history that cannot be true.

Cael's own recommendation helped Hugh get the job. Now questioning the dealer could cost his friend the work he needs. But letting the matter rest means allowing someone to trade on Aldric's name and the village's trust.

Between a cottage needing care, familiar faces around the supper table, and Whiskers's decidedly uninvited opinions, Cael must find a way to put things right without deciding Hugh's future for him.

Return to Thornhaven for a cozy fantasy of old friendship, everyday enchantments, and finding a place to belong.
