The Bermondsey Reckoning

Some debts are buried. Others wait to be collected.

Aiden McBride thought the horrors of Southwark were behind him.

He was wrong.

As life settles around McBride & Son, Aiden hopes to return to the respectable business of tending the dead. But across the crowded streets, warehouses and riverside shadows of Victorian Bermondsey, something is stirring and the past has not finished with him yet.

When a disturbing case draws Aiden into another investigation, he finds himself among old grudges, concealed identities and dangerous men determined to keep their secrets buried. What first appears to be an isolated death soon reveals connections reaching far deeper than anyone expected.

With Margaret at his side and the authorities struggling to separate truth from deception, Aiden must once again rely upon his knowledge of death and his growing instinct for recognising when the dead have a story left to tell.

But Bermondsey remembers its debts.

And someone has decided that the time has come for a reckoning.

Set against the atmospheric streets, wharves and working communities of nineteenth-century South London, The Bermondsey Reckoning is a dark Victorian murder mystery filled with secrets, suspense and the grim realities of life and death south of the Thames.
