The Ark Beyond The Abyss

The Ark of the Abyss is a high-concept science-fiction novel set in Phoenix, a secret lunar refuge built over thirty years inside a vast magma chamber on the Moon's far side. Designed as humanity's insurance policy, Phoenix houses 14,000 people in a self-sufficient underground society powered by fusion, sustained by hydroponics, and governed by the ideals of rational coexistence beyond Earth's political and religious fractures.
In 2060, when Earth discovers Phoenix and attack drones breach its defenses, founder Louis Daguet activates Code Noah: an untested emergency plan that tears a colossal fragment of lunar crust free and launches the colony into deep space. In a matter of hours, Phoenix becomes an ark of stone and machinery, carrying its terrified citizens away from the Solar System. Near Europa, the refugees encounter SAWS, an immense alien vessel trapped in the ice and inhabited by the Conscious Ones, a serpentine civilization from Alpha Centauri. Their arrival brings both salvation and danger-and the devastating news that Earth has been shattered by nuclear war.
What follows is a story of exile, survival, and reinvention on a cosmic scale. As Phoenix helps free SAWS and sets course for Gliese 832c, thirteen light-years away, its leaders must hold together a fragile alliance between humans, aliens, and machines. Clara Baker fights to preserve hope and social cohesion, Guy Bey confronts the technical and moral cost of cooperation, and Daguet must guide a society under extreme pressure while Phoenix's AI, Gina, evolves beyond her programming. Blending hard-science spectacle with political and philosophical tension, The Ark of the Abyss asks whether humanity can build a new civilization beyond the ruins of Earth-or whether intelligence, human or artificial, is doomed to repeat the violence of the past.
With the large-scale ambition of Seveneves, the political reach of The Expanse, and the first-contact intelligence of Children of Time, the novel is aimed at adult readers of ambitious, idea-driven science fiction who want both scientific credibility and philosophical depth.
