The body of a respected financial analyst, Curtis Delaney, is found dead in an alley downtown, Corpus Christi, the fifteenth murder of the year.

Delaney's relative, newspaper reporter Devin Parker, is determined to find out who killed Curtis. While pursuing a potential witness, Devin gets forced off the road on his motorcycle. He suffers severe injuries and paralysis from the waist down. Maxie and Kobe Jameson agree to keep Devon informed as they carry out the investigation. When they discover the extent of the crime surrounding the murder of Curtis, who was involved, and how his death is linked to other recent homicides, they are astonished. 

Nothing of this magnitude had ever happened in Corpus Christi, Texas, before. 

After his apartment is broken into, Devin knows he is the next target on their list, and he devises a plan to catch the leader of the crime ring. A plan Maxie was not in favor of, but the only one they had. Will Devin be able to lure the cromonal responsible onto his hook? If so, will Maxie and Kobe be able to move fast enough to protect him, or will it be Devin's last farewell?
