Séance Not Included

An island inn. A ghost with opinions. A murder nobody rehearsed.

Starting over at fifty-four wasn't easy. Bets Fairweather thought running murder mystery weekends would at least make good use of her thirty years in theatre.

At Larkmoor Inn, the clues are planted, the deaths are staged, and the guests expect a satisfying solution before they leave. Bets can manage that. She can even manage a resident ghost who insists on giving stage directions.

What she cannot manage is a real corpse in the conservatory.

The victim is Hollis Crane, the critic who helped destroy her theatrical career. With her grudge common knowledge, Bets suddenly has a starring role in the police investigation.

Her unlikely allies are Aubrey Bellamy, a stage manager who died in 1938, and Cue, a parrot whose uncanny mimicry may hold a vital clue. Together, they must untangle the guests' secrets and discover who turned an evening's entertainment into murder.

Séance Not Included is the first novella in the Ghost Light Inn Mysteries, blending a contemporary island whodunit with theatrical humour, a fresh start in midlife, and a mischievous paranormal touch.
