Scritchy, Scratchy Socks!

It's a wrong-socks kind of day.

Shelly's favorite socks are all in the laundry, so today she's stuck in the scratchy ones-and those socks are loud. They steal her thoughts, drown out the teacher, and turn lunch tasteless, because all Shelly can think about is the scritching and scratching on her feet. When she can't stop fidgeting, the other kids laugh and her teacher frowns. Only her best friend Jennifer understands.

But Shelly has autism, and she knows something her class doesn't: she can't just "sit still" any more than they could ignore a sticker stuck right on the end of their nose. So Shelly comes up with a clever idea-one that just might help her whole class feel exactly what she feels all day long.
