Jazz Guitar Genius: 7th-Chord Arpeggios is a systematic study of seventh-chord arpeggios across the guitar fretboard, organized through the CAGED system and a 36-Day Training Cycle.

This book is written in standard notation and does not include TAB.

The material covers seventh-chord arpeggios associated with all 36 Major, Melodic Minor, and Harmonic Minor keys and parent scales. The studies proceed through Cycle of 4ths root movement, providing a consistent harmonic sequence through which the material can be practiced and compared.

The arpeggios are intended to develop more than familiarity with chord shapes. They provide material for studying:

• harmonically specific melodic improvisation
• chord construction
• fretboard organization
• voice leading
• harmonic resolution
• standard-notation reading throughout the fretboard

Particular attention is given to the transitional voice-leading movements that connect one harmony to another. These small resolutions and melodic connections are fundamental to tonal music and appear in musical languages ranging from Bach to contemporary jazz.

The CAGED system is used here primarily as a means of organizing the instrument. The objective is to internalize the underlying forms well enough that they eventually cease to function as rigid fingering patterns. Once absorbed, the player can modify or dissolve the forms as necessary to accommodate phrasing, voice leading, articulation, and individual technique.

For intermediate players, the notation-only format provides substantial reading practice. For advanced and professional players, the book functions as a detailed review and practice system for seventh-chord vocabulary, harmonic movement, improvisation, and fretboard fluency.
