Flyover

"Pride. Tradition. Fear."

Flyover casts looming shadows over Warren Everett. Shadows of his dead older brother. Shadows of the limiting expectations his upbringing imposes over him. Shadows from the massive turbines of the wind farm he lives amongst. 

Fearful that he'll never reach what sunlight he needs to thrive if he can't break free of all these shadows, Warren struggles with what exactly it means to 'be a man' in such a rapidly changing world. One that perpetually fails to teach him how to navigate any such space. Instead, he finds what world he doesn't want quickly closing in and narrowing around him. 

Cagey as any penned-in barnyard animal, whose only escape is getting shipped off for slaughter, he traverses the myriad options of love interests, possible futures for himself, changing relationships with his parents, and how to best conduct himself as what man he is not even sure how to become. Unbridling himself from the restrictive harnesses of childhood, he toes his way ever nearer what adulthood he doesn't yet fully understand.

Flyover is a bildungsroman that explores the changing roles of masculinity, duty, responsibility, classism, escaping the voids of grief and loneliness, along with that underlying fear of never mattering.
