Excerpt from Eighth Annual Report of the Board of Agriculture, of the State of Ohio, to the Fifty-First General Assembly: For the Year 1853 But, the excitement, novelty, and interest of Fairs, has elicited a spirit of emula tion among all classes. Ingenious farmers and mechanics have vied with each oth er ia devising improved implements of husbandry. In no avocation perhaps, is it so important that labor should be well directed, well done, and done in season, as in that pertaining to the farm. Two principal objects are sought to be accomplished by improved implements, viz: to lighten labor, and improve the soil. That these objects are already accomplished in a very considerable degree, it is now the greatest pleasure of thousands of Ohio farmers to testify.
