This is the third mystery novel in the Queer Queries Trilogy.
Each novel stands on its own. However, if read in sequence, there are tidbits between novels revealed that enhance the stories. The trilogy books are: Queer Queries, Black Leather Serial Murder, and Demon Slayer. Oliver Kugul and Coy Goff use the same handguns and small private aircraft in all three books.
In Demon Slayer, an international drug cartel has it in mind to kill Leo Nultch, a dear old friend of Oliver Kugul and his husband Coy Goff. The criminals took offense when Leo obliviously interfered in its business by saving two young strangers' lives. The drug cartel aims for Leo to learn his good intentions had bad consequences. That message was emphasized when six gangbangers broke into Leo's home with murder in mind. Leo dealt with force with force.
At pivotal points in this novel, Aaron Onnagatas, aka Aaron Tallgrass, plays important roles and a terminal one for a willful evil demon. During much of this novel, octogenarian Leo Nultch travels around the United States with his damaged senior-minder, Randy Webber. Their travel is to avoid Leo's murder.
Leo's geriatric life is at times in conflict with societal discrimination, gender appropriate garb, in vogue neurodiversity, Muxes' ancient values, and the axiomatic adolescent question: does mouth-to-mouth kissing spread germs and thus dirty to be avoided? Also mentioned in this wandering adventure tale: gunfights, shapeshifting traditional Fairies, modern Radical Faries, Penguins Spen and Magic, Cowboys, and Bail Bondsmen.
