Comfort is a Slow Death

You do not need another morning routine. You need an honest look at what your life has become.

Comfort is a Slow Death is a blunt field guide for adults who are tired of explaining the same problems while continuing to live inside them.

C. D. Ashford draws from thirteen years in Army infantry and Tactical PSYOP, deployment to Afghanistan, civilian work, marriage, injury, education, addiction, and his own failures. He does not write as a finished man standing above the reader. He writes as someone who learned how easily intelligence, trauma, discipline, work, anger, and even self-improvement can become respectable places to hide.

This book examines why tolerable lives can consume years without ever becoming painful enough to force change. It confronts the ways avoidance transfers its cost to spouses, children, coworkers, and friends. It challenges the belief that confession, insight, motivation, or a diagnosis automatically produces better behavior.

There are no seven-day challenges, cold-plunge sermons, recycled military slogans, fake positivity, or promises that effort will fix everything. Some damage lasts. Some relationships end. Some limits remain.

You have already lost time. The next decision still belongs to you.

You are not dead yet. Go live the f***ing thing.
