Gerhard Richter is among the most prominent painters of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a career spanning almost 60 years. Beyond his monumental abstract and photo-realistic works, his working method,artistic processes and philosophy are less well known. The Belgian photographer Benjamin Katz captures the notoriously camera-shy artist at work.Using a pair of compact Leicas, Katz produced and hand-developed eighty black and white portraits of Richter painting, sketching and mentally processing his work.
