At age 62, Pauline Wilson published her first historical fiction novel, inspired by her ancestors. Two more novels followed. But holding those finished books in her hand, Pauline found herself reflecting on whether the journey that brought her to that point - the self-doubt, the steep learning curve, the fear, the mistakes - might matter just as much as the books themselves.
What began as private notes and journalling slowly grew into a candid account of becoming an author later in life.
This is not a how-to book or a promise of overnight success. Instead, it is an honest, behind-the-scenes look at what is involved in writing and self-publishing a novel. Pauline shares the highs and lows, the technical learning curves, the cost (both financial and emotional) and the persistence needed to keep going when confidence wavers.
Becoming an Indie Author is for anyone standing at the edge of the creative precipice, unsure whether to take the jump, or anyone who has ever wondered if it is too late to begin. Pauline's answer, hard won and honest, is on every page.
