Mountain Joy

A wedding neither of them chose. A love neither of them expected.Jessica Hale walks twenty miles into Blue Meadow Springs with her father newly buried and one promise to hold to - that the family waiting there would take her in if need ever pressed hard. She arrives to learn they are all buried too, every one of them lost in the cholera summer. She is twenty years old, alone in the world, and out of places to go.Jack Wilson farms a mountain by himself and has never learned the first thing about talking to a lady. He is six and a half feet of quiet, and he manages fine - until Jessica Hale is standing in the room. When a boarding-house cat, a bundle of venison, and the worst possible witnesses leave the two of them in a position the town cannot overlook, Pastor Jackson marries them before supper. They speak the vows because Blue Meadow Springs gives them no other choice. What follows is a year of shared work and Scripture read at the breakfast table, of laughter neither of them expected, and of two hearts moving toward something neither will say out loud - until the mountain asks more of them both than either thought they could give.Book Two of the Blue Meadow Springs Series. A clean, faith-filled historical romance of the Tennessee mountains, 1836. Each book follows a different couple and can be read on its own.
