Die legendären Songs of Sanctuary von Karl Jenkins, die ursprünglich für Frauenstimmen, Streicher und Schlagzeug komponiert wurden, sind jetzt für gemischten Chor erhältlich. Die 1994 erschienene Aufnahme wurde sofort zum Klassiker und ist es bis heute geblieben. Jenkins erklärt: "Ich habe Songs of Sanctuary in der Tradition der europäischen Klassik konzipiert, aber es war meine Absicht, dass der Vokalklang eher dem der Weltmusik ähnelt. Die ‘Worte’ sind erfunden; in dieser Hinsicht ist das Werk mit Vokalisen, auch wenn dabei Vokale und Konsonanten festgelegt sind." Ein weiteres auffälliges Merkmal des Vokalklangs ist das Singen im Forte ohne Vibrato. Gemischte Chöre werden die Gelegenheit ergreifen, ein so ikonisches Werk in dieser neuen Fassung aufzuführen.
