It is the first to be cheated by the writer Muhammad Hussein Heikal in 1914 AD. It is a romantic novel that deals with the ancient Egyptian love in its folds, in addition to its significant way of social life in that era in which the love story occurred. The novel revolves around a group of people who live in the Egyptian countryside under the shadow of colonialism and suffer from its woes. The writer depicts the life of the misery that the people of the countryside live, and depicts the rural girl "Zainab" who accepts the wedding offer that her father forced into it despite her love for another person. The writer published his first edition of the novel in its first name, "Egyptian Falah", but she did not find great popularity, and it was published in the second edition in the name of "Zainab", to find a huge demand for it from all Arab readers. Zainab''s novel is characterized by the fact that her words attract the reader to the world that the writer wanted, and she finds accuracy in the description that quickly turns into composite images in front of the reader''s imagination, in addition to presenting people and personalities very accurately, and their flowing details, and the writer described the countryside an accurate description Most of the critics describe the novel as the narration of nostalgia to the countryside, and this is evident through the writer''s words, and the way he narrates the events.
