Das ZKM entwickelte mit William Forsythe 1994 die interaktive Computerinstallation Improvisation Technologies, eine Art "digitale Tanzschule", die ursprünglich als professionelles Trainingsinstrument für die Frankfurter Compagnie gedacht war und in die Technologien der Improvisation einführt, die Forsythe in nunmehr anderthalb Jahrzehnten entwickelt hat.§Diese Sonderausgabe der ZKM digital arts edition bietet mit einer überarbeiteten Fassung auf CD-ROM einen vertiefenden Zugang zur Arbeit des Choreografen: In über sechzig Videokapiteln zeigt William Forsythe mit kurzen, von ihm kommentierten Demonstrationen die wichtigsten Prinzipien seiner Bewegungssprache. Dazu sind Improvisationen abrufbar, speziell für die CD-ROM getanzt von den Ensemblemitgliedern des Ballett Frankfurt, Christine Bürkle, Noah Gelber, Thomas McManus und Crystal Pite. Im 1996 von Thomas Lovell Balogh gefilmten Solo hat man die seltene Gelegenheit, William Forsythe selbst als Tänzer zu erleben.
