Wewer, Mein Heimatbuch, Band 1 enthält Texte zur Entstehung der ländlichen Kulturlandschaft, der Bedeutung und der Schwierigkeiten bei der Abschaffung des Lehnswesens in der sogenannten Bauernbefreiung und der Separation und dem Übergang zu einer wissenschaftlichen Landwirtschaft, und der Bedeutung des Wassers für den Betrieb von Mühlen und der Wiesenbewässerung. Zu den bisher nicht veröffentlichten Abbildungen gehören Karten ab dem 16. Jahrhundert, über Separationskarten des 19. Jahrhunderts bis zu Luftaufnahmen der englischen Bomberpiloten aus dem 2. Weltkrieg. Hinzu kommt die Erwähnung der ortsansässigen Adelsfamilien, ihrem Miteinander mit den übrigen Bewohnern des Dorfes und ihrer Pionierleistungen in der Etablierung einer wissenschaftlichen Landwirtschaft mit der Besonderheit der Flößwiesen. Zur Erinnerung an das Jahrhunderthochwasser im Jahr 1965 wird der Band 1 durch den Bericht zweier damaliger junger Zeitzeugen ergänzt.
