Il terzo affronta il tema della sessualità umana e della scelta fra verginità e matrimonio: Clemente valorizza ogni aspetto della volontà del Creatore, quindi anche la finalità della differenza sessuale, opponendosi sia agli edonisti sia agli encratiti che disprezzano il corpo. Il quarto libro è dedicato alla testimonianza e al martirio, che non va ricercato, ma accolto per amore.
