Seine Hoffnung auf eine egalitäre und funktionale Moderne zerbricht. §Thomas Flierl hat die Texte gesammelt, die in diesen Jahren von und über Ernst May erschienen. Ergänzt wird die Sammlung durch Dokumente zur Situation Mays. Gestützt auf neue Archivfunde, erhellt Flierl erstmals seine tatsächliche Stellung im sowjetischen Städtebau, die Hintergründe seiner Ablösung und seine zunehmende Distanz gegenüber dem sowjetischen Experiment.
