Die Novelle ist irgendwie nur eine griechische Ostergeschichte mit vielen Bildern. Aber das ist eigentlich unwichtig, denn jeder Tag ist wichtig. Ein Ostersonntag ist eben irgendwann da. Genauso wie heute einfach da ist. Jetzt. Die Zeit spielt überhaupt keine wichtige Rolle. Silas würde so gerne die Schule besuchen. Lesen, Schreiben und Rechnen lernen. Er denkt an die vielen schönen Bücher, von denen sein Vater so oft erzählt. Wenn er doch schon Lesen, Schreiben und Rechnen könnte. Ja dann - dann würden ihn die anderen Kinder, vielleicht auch nicht mehr so oft hänseln. Doch leider hat sein Vater einen wertvollen Adlerkrallenring verloren. Irgendwo ist nur sehr schwer zu finden. Nirgendwo ist irgendwie überall. Da der Vater den hohen Verlust abarbeiten muss, bleibt der kleinen Familie nur noch sehr wenig Geld zum kärglichen Leben. Alles nur ein schlechter Traum? Wirklich?
