Gerade in den "Schulpraktischen Studien" kommt die Hinwendung zum forschenden Lernen deutlich zum Ausdruck: Ausbildung wird zum Forschungsauftrag für alle daran Beteiligten. Dazu bedarf der "Reflektierende Praktiker" auch der Werkzeuge, um sein Feld - die forschende Auseinandersetzung mit seiner eigenen Entwicklung - sinnvoll bearbeiten zu können. Von der "Aktionsidee" über die "Praxisreflexionen" bis hin zur "praktischen Theorie" wird deshalb ein methodisches Konzept entwickelt, welches die "Schulpraktischen Studien" fundiert und für die Ausbildung an Pädagogischen Hochschulen bereitstellt. Hier findet Forschung in ihrer ursprünglichsten Form statt: In der Kultur des Fragens, des bewussten Innehaltens und der systematischen Reflexion, um zu gangbaren Lösungen zu gelangen und damit eine theoretisch begründete "Subjektive Didaktik" zu entwickeln.
