Die Beiträge der zweiten Gruppe werden eingeleitet durch einen nachgelassenen Aufsatz von Georg Benno Gruber, der zugleich an diesen uneigennützigen Förderer der Pathologie erinnern möchte. Es folgt ein Beitrag über Georg Büchner als Naturforscher, jenen genialen jugendlichen Forscher, der ganz auf sich gestellt einen wissenschaftlich ernstzunehmenden Weg auf dem Felde der vergleichenden Anatomie gefunden hatte. Der Band wird durch einen Essay über Fragen der Ethik - Ethik aus der Sicht des Pathologen - abgeschlossen.
