Pour ętre effectif, un processus de développement logiciel doit ętre adapté au contexte de l'organisation. Cette adaptation nécessite l'exploration de plusieurs perspectives : Orientée-Activité, orientée-Connaissance, orientée-Simulation, et orientée-Maturité. Le livre présente une nouvelle approche de modélisation des processus supportée par un outil nommé DSL4SPM. L'outil implémente et enrichie la spécification « Software & Systems Process Engineering Meta-model » (SPEM) et se caractérise par : 1) un cadre conceptuel pour la modélisation; et 2) une orientation multi-perspectives. Le cadre conceptuel est basé sur la syntaxe fournie par SPEM, alors que les perspectives sont le résultat d'un enrichissement sémantique basé sur les connecteurs entre les éléments SPEM. L'auteur aborde successivement les quatre perspectives de modélisation selon les points de vue recherche et ingénierie, puis démontre l'applicabilité et l'utilité des perspectives. Il discute du positionnement de ces travaux dans un contexte plus large traitant l'amélioration de l'ingénierie de développement logiciel en incluant les aspects de mesure et d'évaluation des processus, projets et qualité des produits.
