Durch die technische Weiterentwicklung der Netze sowie der mobilen Endgeräte, werden auch Bedarf und Nutzung von Anwendungen über das mobile Internet wachsen. §Dieses Buch gibt einen praxisorientierten Vergleich verschiedener Möglichkeiten und Technologien, um Java-Webanwendungen durch mobile Endgeräte zu nutzen. Anhand einer Beispielanwendung wird vorgestellt, welche Lösungsansätze hierfür verfolgt werden können. Es wird die Entwicklung zweier Clientanwendungen gezeigt, die auf die Beispielanwendung zum einen über verschiedene Arten (via WAP bzw. Web-Service) zugreifen, zum anderen unterschiedliche Technologien (WML mit JavaServer Faces bzw. JavaME) für ihre Darstellung nutzen. Eine anschließende Untersuchung und ein Vergleich dieser beiden Clients zeigen Vor- und Nachteile der eingesetzten Technologien, sowie Stolperfallen und Besonderheiten, die während der Entwicklung mobiler Webanwendungen beachtet werden sollten. §Das Buch richtet sich somit an Anwendungsentwickler, die den praxisorientierten Einstieg in mobile Webanwendungen suchen, sowie an Studierende, als eine Einführung in diese Thematik.
