Der sächsische Mundartdichter Edwin Bormann (geb.1851 in Leipzig; 3. Mai 1912 ebenda) studierte von 1869 bis 1875 in Leipzig und Bonn Naturwissenschaften, Kunstgeschichte, Germanistik und Philosophie. Danach kehrte er in seine Heimatstadt Leipzig zurück, wo er 1888 für die Publikation seiner Werke einen eigenen Verlag gründete. 1909 rief er gemeinsam mit Georg Bötticher und Arthur von Oettingen die Künstlervereinigung Leoniden ins Leben, die ihm und Bötticher 1918 eine Gedenktafel am Leipziger Rathaus stiftete. "Mein Leipzig lob' ich mir! Es ist ein Klein Paris und bildet seine Leute." Das lässt Goethe seinen Faust Anno 1808 sagen. Aus seiner Studentenzeit (1765-68) kannte Goethe die Buch- und Messestadt Leipzig. Im vorliegenden Band Mei Leibzig low ich mir! stellt Edwin Bormann sein Klein Paris im sächsischen Leipziger Dialekt in Reim, Wort und Bild vor. Illustriert mit 32 S/W-Abbildungen von Eduard Ille. Nachdruck der historischen Originalauflage von 1888.
