Doch 2012 entwickelten sich beide Größen gegensätzlich. Während die Zahl der Flugbewegungen sank, stieg die Zahl der Passagiere. Das heißt, mehr Menschen waren in weniger Flugzeugen unterwegs. Die Flughäfen in der deutschen Provinz haben schwer zu kämpfen, vor allem, weil Zahl der Passagiere bei Inlandsflügen gesunken ist. Die großen internationalen Airports dagegen sind weiter im Plus.
