Aquest llibre immens, del qual en presentem una antologia, resumeix allò més essencial de la vasta obra posterior de Llull i es pot afirmar que amb el "Llibre de contemplació" neixen les lletres catalanes, i ho fan amb una obra de referència la importància de la qual s'estén molt més enllà de les nostres fronteres lingüístiques i culturals.
