Im Anschluss an die Theorieentwürfe von Ernst Troeltsch und Johannes Fischer reflektiert sie insbesondere die Kontextbedingtheit sittlicher Akte und die damit einhergehenden innersubjektiven Vollzüge. Um die Erschließungskraft der ethischen Überlegungen zu überprüfen, setzt sie diese mit Predigten als exemplarischen Vermittlungsinstanzen eines christlichen Ethos in Beziehung. Die Analysen der Kanzelreden, die im Herbst 1989 in der DDR gehalten wurden, plausibilisieren, dass sich ein christliches Ethos im Zusammenwirken religiöser, gesellschaftlicher und sozialer Faktoren konstituiert, wobei die rhetorische Gestaltung der Sprache für seine Kommunikation eine zentrale Rolle spielt.
