Der Fotograf Ernst Stewner (1907-1996) gehört zu den herausragenden Vertretern der Fotografie in Posen und Großpolen zwischen 1932 und 1945. Er war ein Deutscher, der Polen als seine "Heimat" betrachtete und liebevoll ablichtete, ein Auto didakt, dessen fotografisches Werk von Deutschen und Polen gleichermaßen geschätzt wurde, und ein erfolgreicher Foto-Unternehmer im Posen der Okkupationszeit, der sein Geschäft mit überwiegend polnischen Mitarbeitern erfolgreich aufbaute. Der zweisprachige Katalog zu der vom Centrum Kultury -"Zamek" ("Kaiserschloss") in Posen/Poznan mit dem Herder-Institut für historische Ostmitteleuropaforschung in Marburg vorbereiteten Ausstellung beleuchtet erstmals Stewners Wirken umfassend aus Sicht verschiedener Disziplinen - eingebettet in den kulturhistorischen Kontext.
