Die Theorie der kognitiven Dissonanz wurde 1957 von LeonFestinger formuliert. Sie gilt als die einflussreichste derKonsistenztheorien aus der Sozialpsychologie. Basis dieser Theorieist das Streben nach Konsonanz. Demzufolge strebt jeder Menschdanach, sein kognitives System in ein harmonisches Gleichgewicht zuüberführen. Festinger geht davon aus, dass nach demKaufentscheidungsprozess das System durch die Gegenüberstellung dergewählten und der ausgeschlagenen Alternative in Ungleichgewichtgerät. Das Individuum empfindet eine Nachkaufdissonanz und möchtediese beseitigen. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, einen direkten Bezugzwischen Dissonanztheorie und dem marketingpolitischenInstrumentarium herzustellen. Nachdem die Grundlagen undReduktionsalternativen von Dissonanzen aufgezeigt werden, erfolgtanschließend eine Darstellung der Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten für dieMarketingpolitik. Das Konzept des Nachkaufmarketings liefert dabeieinen Ansatz zur Bewältigung von Dissonanzen.
