Dabei betrachtet er sie einerseits ethnologisch und im Hinblick auf ihre Bedeutung für Mensch und Kultur. Zugleich gewährt er Einblicke in sein experimentelles Forschen, das auf die Wirkungen und chemischen Zusammensetzungen der vielfältigen Gifte verweist.
