Neben einer Geschichtsbetrachtung untersucht der Autor verschiedene Teppichmuster und verfolgt deren Ursprünge. Im letzten Teil widmet er sich der Rezeption des Orientteppichs im 20. Jahrhundert. Ziel des Bandes ist ein vertieftes Verständnis für diesen bedeutenden Gegenstand orientalischer Kultur.§
