"Der versiegelte Wein" (ar-Rahiq al-mahtum) beschreibt den Weg des Suchers zu Gott. Suhrawardis knappe Darstellung der einzelnen Etappen des mystischen Pfades ist zugleich ein Lexikon der Sufi-Terminologie und dient, obgleich offenbar für eingeweihte Leser verfasst, als Einführung in die mystische Gedankenwelt.
