In dit werk wil ik een redelijk fonemisch systeem vinden voor de Midlands (in Engeland), vertegenwoordigd door Yorkshire, en de stad Leeds' accent, als model, en de verschillende manieren en factoren die naar R.P. neigen.Ik heb ongeveer negen maanden met de mensen van deze stad gewoond, met hen gemixt, hun manier van spreken bekeken en, tot op zekere hoogte, hun lokale klanken kunnen onderscheiden en de onderliggende motivatie van die klanken kunnen voorspellen, en de oppervlakkige representatie in vergelijking met hun R.P. equivalenten kunnen voorspellen.
