Casino Summer

Casino Summer is a richly atmospheric literary novel set in a regional casino in the Ardeche region in France in 1972. Jemma, a young Australian woman finds herself entangled in a world far more complex than she has ever experienced.

When she arrives in Beaulieu des Eaux with her French boyfriend, drummer Jean-Luc, she expects a carefree summer of music, adventure, and time to decide on her future. Instead, she steps into the shadowy world of a casino owned by the charismatic and controlling Monsieur Bernard. His ambitions drive every decision, and his wife and daughters - elegant Eliane and withdrawn Sylvie - are pawns in the machinery of his success, their lives shaped by expectations they did not choose.
