Darauf aufbauend werden differenziert Ursachen, Hintergründe und Auswirkungen der Sperrmauer diskutiert. Auf der Grundlage der Ergebnisse dieser Untersuchung versucht der Autor die Frage zu beantworten, ob Israels Sperrmauer die Bedingungen für einen nachhaltigen Friedensprozess im Nahen Osten fördert.
