Chr. veröffentlichten Epos werden die mythischen Voraussetzungen für die Gründung Roms erzählt. Die Übersetzung ist metrisch, verwendet also wie das Original den Hexameter, steht aber sprachlich nicht mehr in klassizistischer Tradition, sondern gibt den lateinischen Text im Deutsch der Gegenwart wieder.
