Once upon a time there was an honest piece of silver who passed from hand to hand and happily discovered his country. One day, his current owner travelled abroad, taking the piece of silver by accident - he only intended to take money from the country he was going to. And this is when the real adventures of the piece of silver began...Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a Danish author, poet and artist. Celebrated for children's literature, his most cherished fairy tales include "e;The Emperor's New Clothes"e;, "e;The Little Mermaid"e;, "e;The Nightingale"e;, "e;The Steadfast Tin Soldier"e;, "e;The Snow Queen"e;, "e;The Ugly Duckling"e; and "e;The Little Match Girl"e;. His books have been translated into every living language, and today there is no child or adult that has not met Andersen's whimsical characters. His fairy tales have been adapted to stage and screen countless times, most notably by Disney with the animated films "e;The Little Mermaid"e; in 1989 and "e;Frozen"e;, which is loosely based on "e;The Snow Queen"e;, in 2013. Thanks to Andersen's contribution to children's literature, his birth date, April 2, is celebrated as International Children's Book Day.
